Quintessential Wisconsin

From Lake Winnebago to Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Fox Valley is quintessential Wisconsin, offering a mixture of neat dairy farms, sprawling waterscapes and hardworking communities. This complex and thriving region presents the visitor with a surprising mix of shopping, dining and attractions—and some of the most interesting wineries in the state.

The Wineries – Truly Unique

Trout Springs Winery is the state’s only combination Class A Trout Hatchery and winery. The nearby LedgeStone Vineyards is located at the foot of the Niagara Escarpment, along the Fox River State Recreational Trail. Kerrigan Brothers Winery offers a full line of wines, from dry to sweet. And a laid-back atmosphere reigns at Captain’s Walk Winery, located in a beautifully restored pre-Civil War home.

Nature Areas and Nearby Attractions

While you’re visiting the wineries in rural Greenleaf, take some time to visit High Cliff State Park. Part of the Niagara Escarpment, the park features limestone cliffs overlooking Lake Winnebago. Freedom is close to the City of Appleton, which hugs the shores of the Fox River and features a vibrant downtown. Be sure to visit the beautiful campus of Lawrence University. For hikers and nature lovers, there’s also the Mosquito Hill Nature Center and the 1000 Islands Nature Center. No trip to Green Bay would be complete without a trip to Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and Lambeau Field, Home of the Green Bay Packers and crown jewel of the National Football League.
